Yuan Liu is a biohacker, visual artist and filmmaker born in Beijing and now based in Brooklyn, NY. Liu came to Austin to concentrate on shooting documentaries exploring the topics of genome editing, biohacking, hacking, as well as the “hacker-mindset” and its impact on contemporary creativity. In addition to participating in MoHA’s East Austin Studio Tour Programming, Yuan conducted a enlivening yet peaceful Powerpoint presentation-as-performance and screened a series of videos she worked on as director, production designer and art director incorporating “film-hacks,” ranging from full music videos to excerpts from feature films.

Yuan Liu es una biohacker, artista visual y cinematógrafa nacida en Beijing y ahora basada en Brooklyn, NY. Liu vino a Austin para concentrarse en filmar documentales que exploran temas como edición genoma, biohacking, hacking, así como el “mindset-hacker” y su impacto en la creatividad contemporánea. Aparte de participar en la programación de MoHA para el East Austin Studio Tour, Yuan condujo una presentación tipo performance de Powerpoint y videos tanto animados como pacíficos donde trabajó como directora, diseñadora de producción y directora de arte incorporando “film-hacks”, en un rango desde videos musicales completos, hasta extractos de largometrajes.
