Dre’ Jackson (he/him) is a poet originally from Central Florida and Warwick, Bermuda, now based in Austin, Texas. With degrees in Psychology and Higher Education, Jackson approaches writing with a deep respect for human complexity, always attentive to both the mind and the moment. As a writer, director, and multidisciplinary creative, he transforms feeling into language that audiences can hear, feel, and sit with. His work is honest, curious, and intentional, exploring love, family, Blackness, queerness, and spirituality with care and depth. His debut poetry collection, Side Mirror, is available on Amazon.
During the 24-Hour Lock-In residency, Jackson began phase one of a lifelong creative project that blends poetry and music into a larger musical body of work. Rooted in solitude, silence, and rhythm, the residency offered him the rare opportunity to slow down and allow art to lead. Surrounded by nature, Jackson leaned into stillness as a creative practice, using the space to reconnect with intuition and process. As a full-time artist and bartender in Austin’s Rosewood district, the residency served as a necessary pause, reaffirming his commitment to creativity as both a discipline and a way of life.
Dre’ Jackson completed his 24-Hour Lock In Residency in June 2025.
